CCYAL is very pleased to announce that we will be hosting two-time Newbery Honor-Winning author Gary D. Schmidt on October 9th at 7pm in Hodges Auditorium. Gary's Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy was awarded both the Newbery Honor and the Michael Printz Honor in 2005. The Wednesday Warsrecieved the Newbery Honor in 2008. Critics claim that Okay for Now is his best book yet, and still to come is Gary's newest title, What Came from the Stars, to be released on September 4th. When he isn't writing award winning novels, Gary teaches English at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI.
This summer CCYAL moved it's examination collection to the third floor of Hodges Library, directly above the 2nd floor entrance and adjacent to the Juvenile collection. Long time friends of the Center will remember this location from several years ago, and all visitors will appreciate the increased availability of the collection and its proximity to the permanent Juvenile collection. The examination collection is, of course, non-circulating, however it is open to the public whenever the library is open, which is pretty much around the clock. Can't sleep? Come read. The books will be here.
